Throw some wide tires on there and retrofit Aircon, and you’ll have a perfect sand skimmer.

Leave the super narrow tyres on, add a turbs, derft.

Hell yeah. Probably like a 4-speed manny 3-cylinder. Would be a lot of work to move that thing at traffic speeds.

Would be a blast

Yes. The image of the chosen vehicle blesses us all with the presence of he who’s ventures are most dusty. As the ascended AWD hatchback takes it’s rightful place among the righteous catcti and golden sands, the skies part way, filling the whole earth with the holiest and greatest of all rally hymns...

An Alto? We used to get the four door version many, many years ago,

Haven’t seen one in many, many years either.

Perhaps. It didn’t say. We still get them here because we get absolutely everything except American cars.

I mean, my commute tops out at 40 mph, and it looks more useful than a scooter

But that might be the worst part! That sort of commute has constant acceleration/decceleration. I’m (relatively) sure this thing can hold 60mph, but getting it from 0 to 40 over and over - there’s the challenge.

That one stop-light-on-an-up-hill - there’s your problem

Ah, I could make it work. I had to do some creative route-finding when I was learning to drive stick, so I know there are definitely traffic-free options.

The trip across the Nullabor would have been noisy and leisurely.

They are quite a hoot around town and swapping out the little motor for a Swift motor was not unheard of. As was a Hayabusa conversion. But the best one I saw was a full electric conversion that had nearly 50:50 balance and way more power and torques than the original. Used to lay very good stripes if one was inclined and handled like a well sorted go- kart

That would be a reasonable assumption.

By leisurely you mean slow. Not relaxed. Leisurely might not quite be the word ;)

I am inclined.
